John 14: 15-21
Congar was the first theologian to use the term faceless person to refer to the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit manifested in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures is not only elusive but most of the time walking on condition of anonymity. And it is this kind of faceless person to whom Jesus calls Christians to accompany every day until the end of time. The verses that should be read in the Gospel of John are part of the discourse that makes Jesus during the Passover Lamb's Supper and Jesus is an attempt to prepare the disciples for what lies ahead. usually confess we do not pietistic, but some of our expressions of faith are. P. e. prefer to think of God as unconditional love as a uniting bond that will always be; but after reading the two conditions are set to receive the love of the Father:
a) keep the commandments of Jesus
b) love Jesus
These two conditions are so interdependent that Jesus unites them as if they were one and used as faceless ligament to God. Those who love Jesus met with His commandments. God and Jesus love those who love Jesus and keep his commandments, and the Son promises to reveal them.
The church, at its best, is a community of love and that love gives you great power. By becoming a community of love, the church persuaded the world the love of God. No logical argument has the power to persuade that it is an act of charity. The love of Christ and the love of others gives the church great power.
We can not pretend to put the kosmos in the faith through rational discussion, but often it is possible to love the kosmos to get him into the faith. Obedience to the commandment to love, then becomes the ultimate condition of discipleship. To be a disciple then you must face the faceless God.
