Ryan Cracknell "The Triumph of the Spirit" offers an uncompromising vision of the horrors of Auschwitz concentration camp, from the fate of the Greek Gypsies and particularly, of a champion boxing Arouch Salamo, who fought for the amusement of the brutal Nazi officers and their survival and that of his father. While still alive their defeated opponents were put to death. Based on a true story is certainly one of the most devastating films have ever had about death camps. The realism of its presentation is stronger for having been shot in the cruel winter of 1989 on location in Auschwitz and probably should have affected the cast. Willem Defoe's performance demonstrates the feelings made at the time and this is transmitted to the whole cast.
certainly not an easy film to watch, but compensates and mobilizes those who make the effort. Perhaps in a way this film can prevent about evil that can be repeated again in the world.
The Holocaust War World is one of the tragic moments in modern history. Over the decades there have been many films, some hard-hit, sometimes they do not reflect what happened. "Triumph of the Spirit" is to show all the evil Nazi absolute hardness through the action of Willem Dafoe. Dafoe is Arouch Salamo, a Greek fighter pro Nazis sent to Auschwitz. When their ability is discovered, Salamo is included in a competition with other captives, where the winner will remain alive and receive some benefits, such as choosing an occupation and a further slice of bread on every deal.
"Triumph of the Spirit" is successful in presenting the horrors of Holocaust, but superficially. Families are separated, the familiar faces disappear and friends are killed arbitrarily. It is problematic to see but there is certainly emotional closeness with each of the characters. PETER TRAVERS

The authors did not focus on the revolt that culminated in the destruction of one of the crematoria of Auschwitz and death of the rebels but did so in Salamo Arouch (Willem Dafoe), his family and friends including his love for Allegra (Wendy Gazelle).
